2025 ANGELS HALO HOOP CAMP JUNE 16-19

We're excited to host a fantastic week filled with basketball and fun. Here’s some important information to ensure everything runs smoothly:

Time and Location

The camp will be held at St. Peter Lutheran School. Please enter through the main gym door, Door 14, located on the side of the building facing 24 Mile Rd.

Arrival and Check-in

Please plan to arrive at the camp 15 minutes before your scheduled start time on Monday. This extra time will allow us to check everyone in, distribute Halo T-shirts, and provide name tags for the kids. The first day might be a bit hectic, so your patience is greatly appreciated as we get everyone settled in.

Camp Start Times

5-6 Years Old: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

7-8 Years Old: 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM

9-10 Years Old: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

What to Bring

Players should be in athletic shoes and clothing. We would like the campers to change into their halo shirts. There are locker rooms and bathrooms available to change in. We ask that they wear the shirts every day as well.

  • Attire: Campers should wear athletic shoes and clothing. We ask that campers change into their Halo shirts upon arrival; locker rooms and bathrooms are available for use.
  • Basketballs: We provide plenty of basketballs, especially for the younger age groups. Campers in the 7-8 year old sessions are welcome to bring their own basketballs, though it's not required.
  • Water Bottles: If your child brings a refillable water bottle, please label it clearly. Unclaimed water bottles will be placed on the ledge at the school entrance daily, and will be held for one week post-camp for pickup during Angels practices.

Sticking Around or Dropping Off

Parents who choose to stay can watch from the bleachers in the gym. We have limited seating, but there is some bleacher seating in the gym that we ask you to use if you are staying in the gym to observe. We do not want the parents standing and lining the gym walls as we need the area for the camp. Please allow your child to engage fully with the coaches and other campers by remaining in the bleachers unless there is an urgent need to assist your child.  We will also provide chairs in the hallway and of course you are welcome to leave and come back at the end of camp.

If you do leave, we must insist that you are not late and are back in time to pickup at the end of the camp.

Water Breaks

We will take several team water breaks throughout each session. Parents observing are asked to help maintain engagement by allowing the coaches to manage these breaks.

We’re Ready to Hoop!

The first day will be a bit hectic with the initial logistics and the kids getting accustomed to the flow of the camp! Once we get through that it will smooth out and were going to have a great time!! We cannot wait to see you!

Learning The game of basketball with the Angels

Understanding the Game

Understanding the Game

Understanding the Game

Each day we focus on the fundamentals, teaching our Little Halos the essential rules of basketball. This foundational knowledge helps them appreciate the game and play correctly and safely.

Dribbling Dynamics

Understanding the Game

Understanding the Game

Our drills are designed to improve hand-eye coordination and help each player find their rhythm with the ball. Campers learn to dribble with confidence, using both hands.

Shooting Skills

Understanding the Game

Teamwork and Sportsmanship

We introduce proper shooting techniques to ensure that our young athletes can make shots reliably. We cover everything from layups to free throws, focusing on form and accuracy.

Basketball is a team sport, and we emphasize teamwork and sportsmanship. Our campers learn to communicate on the court and work together to win.

Skill Level Groupings

Teamwork and Sportsmanship

Skill Level Groupings

To maximize learning and enjoyment, players are grouped by skill level. This approach ensures that every camper faces the right level of challenge and progresses at their own pace.

Daily Scrimmages

Teamwork and Sportsmanship

Skill Level Groupings

Scrimmages give campers the opportunity to use the skills they've learned while playing mini games, reinforcing their new abilities and understanding of the game.  Scrimmages are vital for social interaction and fun!
